Wicked Walleye Challenge Breaks Records as Southern Ontario's Largest Ice Fishing Tournament

The 2025 Wicked Walleye Challenge, proudly presented by Tackle Depot and hosted on the picturesque Wager Farms, made history as the largest ice fishing tournament in Southern Ontario. Drawing 300 passionate anglers from across the region, this year's event was a resounding success, blending competition, camaraderie, and great catches.

Anglers braved the chill and cast their lines into the frozen waters, but the incredible fish stole the show. The largest walleye caught weighed an impressive 12.04 lbs, earning its angler well-deserved accolades. The runner-up was not far behind, with a stunning catch of 10.05 lbs, further showcasing the exceptional quality of the Bay of Quinte fishery.

"This year's Wicked Walleye Challenge exceeded all expectations," said Ben Harvey, event organizer. "With 300 participants, it was not only our biggest tournament to date but also a testament to the passion and skill of our anglers. Seeing families, friends, and fishing enthusiasts come together for a shared love of the sport was truly inspiring."

The event featured over $15,000 in cash and door prizes, lunch, and raised funds with ATV rides for Belleville Wesleyan Church, making it a well-rounded experience for all ages. Tackle Depot's sponsorship increased the excitement with premium fishing gear giveaways.

The Wicked Walleye Challenge's success solidifies its place as a premier event in the ice fishing community. Plans for next year's tournament are already underway, with promises of even more anglers, bigger prizes, and continued efforts to grow the sport in Southern Ontario.
